Challenge

MPC has a big challenge, which is to provide education and programs that prevent substance use among youth in Milford, CT. We know from a growing body of evidence that some of the risk for addiction is genetic. We also know that a lower age of first substance use raises the lifetime prevalence of later substance use disorders. All that context makes MPC programs critical to educate both parents and youth alike. In order to maximize local impact and drive sustainability efforts, MPC needed to revitalize its online presence.

Our challenge was to build a new website and develop messaging that resonates with the community.

Solution

Our team started with a strategy development process that led to a new, streamlined sitemap. We focused on refreshing site content, writing effective new copy, and increasing focus on online donation functionality. We built the site in WordPress for its flexible, scalable functionality and we sourced images from local photographers to create a strong connection to the community. Copy on the site had a 6th grade reading level to ensure it was accessible and it incorporated effective search engine optimization practices. Alongside the site launch, our team also led copy and creative for MPC’s first-ever direct mail sustainability campaign.
